Are You Protected?

There are many ways to help protect your PC from being overtaken with viruses and spyware.  The first thing you need to do is have an Antivirus program running on your machine at all time (Recommendation Norton Antivirus).  These programs need to be setup correctly.  You need to make sure your Antivirus program has automatic updates running, scanning for viruses on emails is running and need to run a full system scan about once a month.

Another big problem in today's PC world is spyware.  There are many different programs to recognize and delete spyware.  There are many free software downloads you can use to help prevent and get rid of the spyware.  Here at ITS we use AdAware by Lavasoft and Spybot Search & Destroy.  There are other types of spyware programs that can be used.  Microsoft has a free beta program called Windows Defender.  You can download this from Microsoft's webpage.  We also use a program (Freeware) called Spyblaster for Windows 98.  This program will help prevent future spyware cases.  Unfortunately spyware has become one of the biggest problems on PC's today.  We hope this information will help you out in the future.
